Join our Neighbourhood Watch

Birstall and Wanlip Neighbourhood Watch is a Partnership of around one hundred-and-fifty individual Schemes that is managed by an elected Committee.

Birstall Residents

If you live in Birstall and would like to join the Watch, it is very likely that there is a Scheme covering your address. This will have a Coordinator who is your link to the Committee and who delivers our monthly Newsletter Village Watch News and collects the annual voluntary membership donations.

Your neighbours may be able to tell you if there is a Scheme for your address and who is its Coordinator.

Alternatively, you can email us with your address to:

watch@villagewatch.co.uk

and we can put you in touch.

Each Scheme depends on its active Coordinator and, inevitably, it happens occasionally that a Coordinator has to give up the role. We do our best to find a replacement but we are not always successful and sometimes a Scheme becomes inactive.

If you would like to be a member of Neighbourhood Watch and there is no active Scheme for your address, please consider becoming a Coordinator yourself. It is not a very onerous task that, on average, takes between one and two hours a month. (See below.)

Wanlip Residents

Wanlip Village operates as a single Scheme in its own right. If you live in the village, you are automatically a member and your subscription is paid annually by the Parish Meeting that also nominates a Committee member to represent it.

There is one Coordinator for the village who delivers the Newsletter to every household each month.

In addition to the nominated Representative, any Wanlip resident is entitled to stand for election to the Committee.

Starting a Scheme

If your address is not part of an existing Scheme, you might want to consider starting one yourself as its Coordinator. We can advise you what addresses adjacent to yours are not currently part of the Watch. Schemes vary in size from between eight and seventy addresses and it would be entirely up to you how many you would want to include.

We will give advice and support and supply you with copies of the current Newsletter and an introductory letter inviting your neighbours to join.

Rather than go into further detail here, we would be happy to answer any questions you may have without any obligation on your part.

Let us have your contact details by email to:

watch@villagewatch.co.uk

or leave us a message on:

and we will get back to you.
